From bumps and bruises to major trauma, our full service emergency department is ready when patients arrive.
Duncan Regional Hospital’s Emergency Department is staffed with physicians who are board certified/board eligible in emergency medicine. Patient care is supplemented by mid-level practitioners who assist in provide care for lower acuity patients. Nursing personnel are trained in basic and advanced life support as well as Trauma Nursing and many have obtained their CEN (Certified Emergency Nursing).
The ED TEAM has many support services such as the Emergency Department Technicians, Clerical, radiology, laboratory and cardiopulmonary. The goal of the entire team is to provide high quality care in a safe and efficient that impacts patient lives in their very own community.
The Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with expert staff on hand to provide treatment for a broad range of urgent and emergent conditions from high fevers for the pediatric patient to life-threatening events such as cardiac events and strokes for the adult patient in addition to unfortunate traumatic events.
The Emergency Department Team is committed to providing compassionate care for you or your loved one and is a Level III Trauma Center, with 18 beds including 10 monitored beds, an ultrasound unit in the Department with annual visits of about 34,000.
Laboratory and radiology services are provided with state of the art equipment and the radiology department is adjacent to the ED.
We are a Certified Stroke Center and our median “door to provider time” and “length of stay” for patients discharged from the Emergency Department is very competitive with other VHA hospitals in our bed size.
